Quality, craftsmanship and superior customer service. Matt did an amazing job refinishing my entire first floor. Over the course of 27 years, this is the THIRD time I have refinished my floors, but it is the FIRST time I used Matt and his dustless system. Wow what a difference! ABSOLUTELY the way to go. Matt was not the cheapest estimate I got but I am SO glad I went with him from a quality and a service perspective. He is meticulous in his work and he’s very flexible. Matt was great. What began as a kitchen remodel, extended to our entire first floor (4 rooms, 2 staircases to the basement, foyer, and mudroom). Matt was extremely flexible as we broke the project into 3 phases. The quality and detail was tremendous, we are extremely pleased with the results. We have Maple Floors and had originally wanted to do something darker, Matt was the only one who provided direct honest feedback on our choice. His professional opinion/feedback was appreciated. My advice is not to go with the least expensive company offering the least expensive finishes (products) , quality results come with premium and the results with Matt were worth the investment. Wood Floor Services was recommended to us for our remodel about 5 years ago. Matt did a great job then, and we called him again for the next round of remodeling. This job required refinish and new install of hardwoods and carpet install. Matt handled all of the wood flooring tasks and facilitated the carpet install, referring another excellent contractor. When Matt and Wood Floor Services say “dustless floor sanding’, they mean it. They work in a timely manner, and because of the lack of dust, we have not been inconvenienced one minute while they work. On top of his excellent craftsmanship, Matt is a pleasure to have around the house. Doug did a great job on my 1500 square foot hardwood install. When the job was completed Matt came and vacuumed the house and installed ram board floor protection. I contracted Matt Rousseau, owner of Wood Floor Services, to refinish the floors in a house I bought in 2005. I had gotten a few quotes and Matt’s was not the cheapest quote, but after talking with him I had more confidence he would do a quality job. I was very pleased with the work and, when I bought a new house in February 2008, I hired Matt to those floors as well. I hired Matt again in March 2008 to refinish floors in an apartment I own. I’ve been consistently pleased with Matt’s work and appreciated his willingness to get the job done on the schedule I requested. I’d also note that Matt’s created amazingly little dust on the jobs he’d done for me.

We have a small cape cod style house which was a converted seasonal cottage. The floors were fir that were painted so we were a little unsure if we could even refinish them. Matt came up, did an assessment, gave us our options and the pros and cons of each. We made a decision to refinish them and they came out beautifully – we are so pleased. He even fixed a few other transition points that would have looked funny if he had not. He came in on time and on budget. We would definitely hire Matt again.

We’re very happy with our floors. I’d describe the outcome as transformational – it has really changed the look of our home. Thanks, Matt, for doing an outstanding job on refinishing our entrance stairway. It looks spectacular. Given that our house was built in 1870 and had accumulated quite a few layers of paint on the stairs, we weren’t sure how it would turn out. My wife and I own a historic home that we are renovating both inside and out. The house is just over 200 years old. The wood flooring in the kitchen and dinning room are southern yellow pine. Our general contractor had several of their flooring subcontractors come out to take a look at the floors and none of them would commit to reconditioning them. They sited the difficulty and unevenness of the floors as reasons not to attempt the job. My wife and I didn’t want to replace the subflooring and put in modern wood floors for fear of taking away the historic character of our house. We found Matthew Rousseau on the internet. He told us it would be a bit more difficult than a standard floor recondition. However, he was up for the job! The final product is simply gorgeous. Matthew was able to sand and coat our historic old wood floors and preserve the rustic nature of our home’s character. My wife and I highly recommend Matthew Rousseau for your wood floor needs.

I had the good fortune of dealing with Matt Rousseau of Wood Floor Services and am extremely pleased with the finished product and my interactions with Matt. Matt was very responsive to my questions and concerns. He visited my farm in Durham and offered valuable suggestions and comments. He promised a written estimate by e-mail the following day, which arrived as planned. I found his estimate to be very acceptable and encouraged him to start as soon as possible. We had initially discussed starting in early October. Due to some construction delays on another larger project, he was able to work me into his schedule at an earlier date. This was wonderful!

Matt promised minimal dust and he certainly lived up to his promise. From earlier experiences with floor refinishing, I expected to find my house covered with saw dust. This was not the case. I was amazed at how clean my home was during the entire process. In addition, the site was left spotless after each visit.

Matt and his co-worker showed up on time and very efficiently attended to the floors. While the fumes were noticeable, Matt went to the trouble of appropriately venting the air to the outside. We had initially thought we would not be able to stay in the house during this process. We were surprised to find that it was not only possible to stay on site in rooms away from the refinishing, it was not unpleasant. Our biggest challenge was that we had to control our dogs from walking in rooms which were refinished, while the products were curing.

What we had put off as being a daunting and inconvenient project has turned into an extremely positive experience with a very competent company. I would highly recommend Matt Rousseau and his team at Wood Services for anyone who is looking for a quality job where great care is given to the smallest detail.

Our newly done floors are absolutely beautiful and greatly enhance the character of our 178 year old farmhouse.
